East End working woman - Harold Hill
This is grandmother of Harold Hill resident Joe Moore. Taken sometime in the 1930s, it features her in the East End doing the paid job of shooting peas against windows to wake the workers up. It is interesting to note that the lady above was only one of 16 brothers and sisters to survive into adulthood, while her mother was one of only 16 children to survive beyond childhood. Hard times indeed.
