I lived in one of the prefabs from 1961 to 1965 and I remember when they started to pull down these lovely old buildings. We moved from a flat in north London to a lovely big garden good neighbours but mostly important of all peace and quiet. My mother passed away in 1965 and I left to start a new life but I still have very fond of the Harold Hill prefab estate which I returned to work for the company that had the job of clearing the land for redevelopment in 1967.

I lived in Cyprus Path which had a long grass path lined by two concrete paths, our home had a big front garden with its own front gate and a very large back garden that was part allotment and part lawn. My first job was at the ABC chewing gum factory in Spilsbury Road.

As I wrote I left Harold hill in 1965 but they was the happiest days of my life and if I could turn back the clock I would live there again in one of those lovely prefabs. They were far ahead of their time with many fittings that we take for granted these days.

Yes I would go back and keep up the good work and should you write a book about it all please let me know and I will buy one
